Although the instructions are simple enough, it doesn't work for me.

I've been wanting to import creatures because for whatever reason from last night to today the creatures I made disappeared. I located them in the 'My Spore Creatures' directory but when I try to drag them into the window, nothing happens.

if I start building another creature in the game, and then try to drag one of my old creatures into it, it prompts me to save the creature I'm working on. But either way, if I choose to save or not, nothing happens afterwards. I'll try to reinstall the CC in case that might have anything to do with it.

If they disappear, you're basically stuffed unfortunately. There appears to be a bug which will, occasionally, mess up the listing for a creature.

You *might* be able to get it back in by copying the creature to a backup directory and deleting the one in My Spore Creations, then importing again from the backup. It worked that way for me, but your mileage may vary.

I have the same problem. I tried what you suggested, and it worked, but only for one creature. It stopped working after wards. Do you know WHY it happens?

I don't know what causes it, I suspect it's a bug in the Trial.
Did you try closing the Creature Creator and trying again?
Other than that, I don't know what to suggest, sorry. :(

i know this is a little late but i can't get the creatures i downloaded from the sporepedia site into spore. They just dont load up into it. I have the full version. BTW i use Firefox could that be the problem?

It shouldn't matter which browser you're using. So long as you're saving the right image it should be fine. Make sure you save the small thumbnail image somewhere on your computer and drag THAT into the game. Trying to drag it out of Firefox may or may not work, I'm not sure.
If the filename has _lrg in it, then you've got the wrong one. :)

this may be kind of a stupid question but after you create your creature how do you play with them the only thing i can figure out is to put them in test drive mode but how do you actually play the game

To use the creatures beyond the test drive requires the actual game of course. The ones made outside the game itself can be used in the tribal, civilization, or space phases. You can also use them in the creature phase if you use the Ctrl+shift+C cheat "evoadvantage". The creatures in the trial version will also populate your games that you play in the full version randomly.

Awesome stuff, thanks very much for the advice! I must admit, I was skeptical about this working at first and am amazed they can store all that information in a .png file. I was able to back up all my beloved creatures safely, and even exchange some creations with my brother. Works like a charm! Thanks again!!
