Spore Creature Creator Trial Download Now Available!

Started by Mythor · 1 year ago

The Internode Games Network in Australia have posted the trial version of the Spore Creature Creator to their site in the last half hour.

It’s unclear whether this is the official release or the one that’s been doing the rounds for two days, but they don’t usually post “shady” files so I expect this one is [...]

  • Well, it's around 3:30am in the UK, and the EU Spore site still has no link to download the trial. One and half hours until midnight EST in the US it will be interesting to see if spore.com will have it available then, or at midnight PST three hours later in the 'spiritual' home of Spore in California's Pacific coast (and one of the last territories to tick over to the 17th).

Then again, it could be delayed a further day until the 18th like its full-version cousin...
  • I'm really hoping everything will go live midnight EST in America but very much suspect it will be PST, like most other Americanised things.

However, if you want the full version, you can get it from direct2drive.co.uk - it worked! :)
  • Apparently we Australians aren't good enough to receive retail versions of the game. And, to top it off, every other EA store in the world has a preorder - except us. In fact, all EA have got on the Au site is 4 screenshots - but I went to the NZ site and it had shots, movies, everything. Including a preorder button.

With any luck, EA Au are going to put it up for us tomorrow to buy, when it comes out in the US, otherwise we're all going to have to buy from overseas stores. Not that it makes that much of a difference when it's digital download. It just shows that they don't think we're a market worth caring about in the slightest.

I hate EA so very, very much. It's a pity they own half the good games that come out. :(
  • Yes, this has soured me on EA again a little bit. I still like that they're actually putting out some non-sequels for a change, but the effort in publicising the Creature Creator here is so far below par it's astonishing.

My only hope is that they don't stuff up when it comes to the full game in the same fashion. I love to support the digital downloading of games wherever possible, but the publishers have to play ball too!
  • Yeah, disappointing from an Australian perspective. From banging on about being a franchise and taking it globally, and in the age of online distribution, you can't help being slighted, no matter how big a market we are not compared to the EU and US.

On a happier note, I there are plenty of new creatures being added to the Sporepedia even though the login is supposedly disabled. Even spotted some by a certain Mythor person ;-)
  • Yep, all that appears to be hogwash.
And I don't think it's a size-of-market thing. The Netherlands got it on their EA Store, they're smaller than us. The Kiwis will be getting it and they might as well be a state. ;)

Login works fine for the full version, it seems only the Trial people are locked out at the moment.
I actually had a dozen or so up the other day, but shh, don't tell anyone! ;-D
  • Well, at 5pm AEST downloaded spore_scc_trial_na.exe (205MB) from the EU site just after midnight US PST (yep, go figure). Trial DL link still not up on www.spore.com at that stage; haven't checked since.

My 5yo made the first one...a red/pink dino/TRex sort of beast. He loves it. Especially popping in the babies (wants the eggs to appear in the test area, but good enough for him ;-) ). My first was an insect/ant sort creature - black, with yellow/brown patterns. Walks like it's got something somewhere uncomfortable.

The kiwis have it?!? Wish we were the fourth island of NZ for a week - download from their store and scrap the merger deal; wouldn't cost the taxpayers a cent.

Only conclusion is that EA AU must have had to look after the Spore-CC distrib themselves...slack-a$@%& bunch if so.
  • Lots happening today - took me 'a while' to compose that post. So imagine my surprise at reading the new post: Spore-CC full is out; Sporepedia is open again.

*looks at keyboard* where is that blush key again...
  • Heh, don't worry about it. :)
But yes, it's open, but only to the full version folks it seems. Bit annoying but at least it's up!
  • YOU CAN PURCHASE CREATURE CREATOR FROM EASTORE NZ. it has th credit card options for australia
  • Cheers, gumby! I'll add a post about it shortly. :-)
